Trip overview

The Dhaulagiri Community Path Trek is Nepal’s newest community-based hiking trail. On this hiking path, the Dhaulagiri community is presently establishing five community lodges and a homestay program. Trekkers may see Mount Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna 8091m, Fishtail/Machapuchhre 6998m, Nilgiri 7041m, South 7219m, Annapurna II (7939m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Lamjung Himal 6988m, and more peaks.

The Dhaulagiri Community Trail traverses Gurung and Magar villages near Poon Hill.  It is located directly on the Great Himalaya Lower Trail (Cultural Route). We the Travel Bureau of Nepal recommend this walk since the tea houses are managed by the local community. Additionally, the profit from these teahouses makes a direct contribution to communities’ education and health services. So, our spending direct effect their source of income and their capability of spending on these kinds of basic services.

The vistas from Kopra, the highest point of the Dhaulagiri Community Path hike (3,650 m), are significantly superior to those from the popular Poon hill. Trekkers may enjoy beautiful views of Dhaulagiri from Kopra, where yaks graze on a green meadow with the Kopra mountain (7216m) in the background. The path descends all the way to Beni, where the journey concludes with a magnificent drive to Pokhara or Kathmandu.

Highlights:

  • A chance to witness the traditional yak farming project.
  • Experience rural, mountain people’s life in Nepal.
  • Enjoy breathtaking views of the Massif and other mountains Learn about the traditions of several culturally diverse ethnic groups.
  • Beautiful ice lakes and glaciers.
  • Use of local community lodges and people’s homes for lodging and local products for eating.

When you arrive in Kathmandu, we will arrange a taxi to take you to your hotel and check into your room. You will have a welcome dinner with the tour guide and get all the details about the trek.

The second day will be spent sightseeing in the Kathmandu valley. Pashupatinath, Boudhnath, Swyambhunath, Patan Durbar Square, and other local markets are located here.

In Pokhara, you can spend your free time exploring the peaceful surroundings of Lakeside or boating on Fewa Lake. Pokhara is a 7-hour drive away via the Prithiviraj Marg Highway.

Day 4: Hike to Ghandruk and ride to the Khopra Ridge Trek

From Pokhara, we all started our trek to Ghandruk, which is one of the special places for the Gurung community of Nepal, and this place is lively and gives us authentic vibes. After that, we started our journey to Khopra.

Day 5-8: Hiking to Khopra Ridge Stunning high alpine views of and giant Dhaulagiri at its best

This trip is made more exciting by the beautiful campsites in the middle of the forest with spectacular mountain views that you will gradually climb throughout the day. There's a good chance you'll run into a lot of Tibetan vendors in town. Because we were off the beaten path, we barely saw any other hikers on the trail. Keep an eye out for opportunities to see wildlife. We hike up to the view tower above Dobato camp in the morning to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. After breakfast, initially follow the sharp ridge to the north and Travers to the west.
After lunch, descend to Chistebung Khola through dense bamboo and subtropical forest, then ascend steeply through grazing pasture to an open clearing in Chistibung for the night.
At an elevation of 3760 meters, Khopra is the final designated and most prominent camp. There is a steep climb that takes you above the tree line at first.
Because the walk is shorter in length, you have more time to enjoy the spectacular down valley views and adjacent mountain panoramas.

Day 9: Hike day to the holy lake at Kaire and stay at teahouses

Trekkers get possibly the closest magnificent mountain view on the way to Khair Lake, the highest point on the trek, and along the way watch the overwhelming sunrise on Dhaulagiri and its dominants, Descend after exploring the lake surroundings, and enjoy a packed lunch on the way down.

Day 10-11: Hiking to Ghorepani via to old Tibet-Nepal trading route

Return to Chistebong and follow the southward track to the camp at Swanta village.
Lunch in the open pastures above the Chistebong Khola at a beautifully set up teashop. After lunch, it's a leisurely stroll through the bamboo forest to camp.
Ghorepani is a popular touristic town on the ridge at an elevation of 2860 meters that has benefited from modernization, internet access, book shops, souvenir shops, mini-departmental stores, bakeries, and snooker houses.

Day 12: Trek to Poon hill and drive back to Pokhara

Morning hike to "Poon Hill" (3,220 m) natural view tower for spectacular sunrise views of Dhaulagiri, and its dominants. Poon Hill offers trekkers one of the most spectacular mountain views.
Descend 1340 meters to Hile.
Trek downstream of the Bhurungdi to the Nayapual, then drive to Pokhara for 1: 30 hour.
Once we check into the hotel, you are free to explore on your own unless you feel escorted by your guide, in which case he is happy to accompany you.

  • What are the most prevalent mountain ailments on our Dhaulagiri Hike?

Food poisoning and stomach troubles are prevalent maladies that aren't exclusive to Nepal; this is a tragedy that trekkers may face when on the wilderness trekking routes no matter where they are in the globe In terms of avoiding all of these problems, your group leader will keep you up to speed on preventive measures such as eating the proper foods, walking at the right pace, and so on

  • What is the food and lodging like on the community teahouse trail?

Since this Dhaulagiri journey began as a community tea house tour, the accommodations can be rather modest, with the exception of a few settlements We prefer family-oriented lodges with twin bed sharing rooms and clean community toilets, as well as occasional rooms with attached toilet baths Despite being rather simple and having an electrical problem, lodges in AD are at their finest when it comes to providing you with a comfortable experience in a typical local setting You have a range of dining options, and most lodges cook wonderful meals So far, there have been no complaints about the meals or accommodations that we have supplied
