Trip overview

The Everest Three High Passes trek begins in Lukla and goes over the Dudh Koshi River into the Sagarmatha National Park. As you go through the Sagarmatha National Park, which is rich in flora and fauna, you explore nature’s beautiful features. Likewise, the cultural variety of the Sherpa valley is also one of the main attractions of this place. Although the Everest 3 Passes Trip is a difficult adventure trek in the Khumbu region, it includes an incredible combination of High passes such as Renjo La (5360m), Cho La (5368m), and Kongma La (5330m). The route of this walk is a difficult and off-the-beaten path.

This region of the trail is filled with friendly Sherpa people, gorgeous villages, a diverse range of cultures and customs, colorful festivals, and monasteries. We climb all the way to Lungden (5360m) in preparation for the Renjo-La pass. Renjo la pass provides breathtaking views of Mount Everest and other Himalayan peaks. A trip to the fourth and fifth lakes would be an extra treat in the Gokyo Valley, where the scenery is incredibly fascinating. The Ngozumpa Glacier is the largest in Nepal’s Himalayas. The Gokyo Ri (5330m) is frequently recognized as the best viewing location in the Everest area. After inspecting this imaging spot, we crossed the Chola-La pass (5420m) to reach Everest Base Camp.

The hike from Gorak Shep to Kalapatthar (5550m) takes around 3 hours. The most special thing about Kalapatthar is that it offers a stunning view of the mountains in the Everest region with an early warm sunrise. The trail falls from Kongma-La to Dingboche, from whence we may either go to Chhukung-Island Peak or stroll down to Tengboche and continue our descent to Lukla.

Highlights:

  • A scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla follows the Dudh Khosi River.
  • Look into the local sherpa’s way of life and typical houses.
  • Checkpoint for national park permits and Pasang Lahmu community fees in Monju.
  • Beautiful mountain views from Gokyo Ri (5,359m).

Ascend Kalapathar in the early morning using a flashlight. The trail is difficult to follow in the dark, but the views from the summit of Kalapathar are worth it. After taking enough photos of the dramatic mountains, we descended to the lodge for breakfast before continuing on to Lobuche.

Day 15: Trek to Chukung crossing the Kongmala.

The trek follows the upper moraine and leads to another absolute wilderness away from the main trekking area. We take our time climbing and crossing the glacier to reach the Nuptse wall. The walk leads higher up and then descends towards the glacier pond. The walk leads to the Chukung village, which is the highest pass on our trip at 5535 meters.

Day 16: Climb the Chukungri and explore the valley.

Chhukung Ri, at 5,550 meters, has been open for free trekking since 2015. It was previously an NMA peak that required climbing permits to scale. This trekking peak does not necessitate any special climbing equipment or skills. Mt. Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Baruntse, Amadablam, Cholaste, Thamserku, Kantega, and Tawache are all visible.

Following the monastery visit, we walk down to the river's edge and then uphill to Namche, initially to level the elevation.
